The graph is in a separate sheet (along with other graphs as part of a dashboard), and the pivot table is used to aggregate raw data (also in its own sheet) for visualization purposes only and not particularly useful for user consumption. I then added a slicer that referenced the raw source data onto my dashboard sheet.
Step 1. Open the Pivot Table Editor, scroll to the list of filters at the bottom, and click on the X beside each filter you want to delete. Start with the filters most likely to be causing the problem. These will be the ones filtering on fields that have new values in the newly added data.
Then choose in the menu: Insert - Chart. The Google Sheets graph is built, the chart editor is displayed. Your spreadsheet will offer you a chart type for your data at once. Usually, if you analyze indicators which vary over time, Google Sheets will most probably offer you a column chart or a line chart.
